Week 4 - Collage extruded into 3d model

The model includes concepts of anxiety form the 1st week and also the word "Destruction".

The idea is that anxiety is an emotion concerning future events. The path in the model is the future and the spikes of anxiety are breaking the path. This is "Destruction". I used some different joining techniques with the spikes and experimented with the texture on the smaller platforms.

Week 3 - Text, Poster and model

We visited a place in the city and produced Text, poster and model based on the concepts we grasped

Text:

From afar this staircase appears to lead down into a vortex, a black hole which seems mysteriously deep until one gets closer. The railings which circle its perimeter suggest that it may be dangerous near the edge and looking down a the dark shading glass there is a hint of obscurity, covering what is down below.
This dark void sits in the middle of a walkway with buildings flanking it on either side. It is near an important law firm and bank and people are constantly walking past, towards and away from the hole as if drawn to it. Everyone walking past will see it and consider walking down, whether it's a tourist stopping to take a photo or a local businessman going to have a snack in the food court. The ambiguity of what lies below will attract many people down those stairs.
At the foot of the stair one can see down below but their view is still blocked by the shading tinted glass which extends around the curving space. This encourages the visitor to walk down the stairs just to see where the tunnel down below leads and what lies below the tinted glass.
I immagine that on a hot summer's day the shade provided by the space below would provide a place for people to relax and escape from the outside bussle and harsh weather.
Once down the stairs the shopping circle reveals itself. Looking up at the sky there are large buildings rising up on either side which impose on the viewer a feeling of insignificance.

Poster:

Vortex, Darkness, Mystery and Void

Model:

I used the same concepts as the poster:

Vortex, Darkness, Mystery and Void

Sorry i didn't have time to make more playdough for the second attempt at the model

1st attempt at the model:

This was the initial model I made in class which i liked but wasn't as well made as it could have been.

week 2 - Model inpired by Artists and Chosen text

Architect/Artist - Brodsky and Utkin

Columbarium Habitabile

Chosen text: Reflections, by Walter Benjamin

Model

This model relates to the concept of "folding".
The salesman folded the cloth over his arm and with every fold the price dropped until he put it away and started from the original price the next day. The cubes in the model get bigger until they dissapear all together. Their form is a parabola and the initial and final elements are holes.
They also slide into an out of the plane.

Week 1 - Word drawings

Dream

Anxiety

Confinement

Desire

Memory
